Cloud Sync & Backup
Back up your scanned documents to iCloud Drive, Google Drive, Dropbox, or OneDrive. Your files go directly to your cloud storage. We never see them.
Your cloud, your choice
ScanFlow integrates with the four most popular cloud storage services: iCloud Drive, Google Drive, Dropbox, and OneDrive. You can connect one provider or all four. Each connection uses the official API provided by the cloud service, ensuring reliable and secure file transfers.
For iOS users, iCloud Drive integration is seamless. Your scans appear in the Files app alongside your other documents. Google Drive, Dropbox, and OneDrive connections are authenticated using OAuth, the industry standard for secure authorization. ScanFlow never sees your cloud storage password.
We never see your files
When you enable cloud backup in ScanFlow, your documents travel directly from your device to your cloud storage account. The file transfer is a direct connection between your phone and the cloud provider's servers. ScanFlow does not operate a relay server, a proxy, or any intermediary infrastructure that touches your files.
This architecture is intentional. By eliminating any ScanFlow server from the backup pipeline, we ensure that your documents are never exposed to a third party. Even if our systems were compromised, there would be nothing to find, because we do not have your documents.
How cloud sync works
Setting up cloud backup takes about 30 seconds. Open ScanFlow's settings, navigate to Cloud Backup, and select the provider you want to use. For iCloud Drive, no additional authentication is needed since it uses your Apple ID. For Google Drive, Dropbox, and OneDrive, you will be redirected to the provider's login page to authorize ScanFlow.
Once connected, you can choose between automatic and manual backup. Automatic backup uploads every new scan to your cloud storage as soon as it is saved. This is ideal if you want a complete mirror of your document library in the cloud. Manual backup lets you select individual documents or folders to upload, giving you control over exactly what goes to the cloud.
ScanFlow maintains the same folder structure in your cloud storage as on your device. If you have organized your scans into folders like "Receipts," "Contracts," and "Personal," those same folders will be created in your cloud storage with the corresponding documents inside. This makes it easy to find files whether you are browsing from your phone, your computer, or the cloud provider's web interface.
Backup happens in the background while you continue using the app. A small sync indicator shows the upload progress. If you lose internet connectivity mid-upload, ScanFlow will resume the transfer automatically when the connection is restored. No duplicate files are created during interrupted uploads.
Frequently Asked Questions
Which cloud services does ScanFlow support?
ScanFlow supports four cloud storage providers: iCloud Drive, Google Drive, Dropbox, and OneDrive. You can connect one or more providers simultaneously and choose which documents to back up to each service.
Does ScanFlow store my documents on its own servers?
No. ScanFlow never stores your documents on its servers. When you enable cloud backup, files are transferred directly from your device to your personal cloud storage account. ScanFlow acts as a conduit, not a destination. We never receive, cache, or inspect your files.
Is cloud backup automatic or manual?
You can choose either option. Automatic backup uploads new scans to your connected cloud service as soon as they are created. Manual backup lets you select specific documents to upload when you are ready. Both options are available in the Cloud Backup settings.
