The short version
ScanFlow stores all your documents locally on your device. We don't have servers that store your documents. We don't have user accounts. We can't see what you scan. When you delete the app, your data is gone — because it was never anywhere else.
ScanFlow ("we", "our", or "us"), operated by ScanFlow, is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle your information when you use the ScanFlow mobile application ("the App").
1. Overview
ScanFlow is a document scanning and PDF management application. The App is designed with a privacy-first architecture:
- There are no ScanFlow user accounts — no registration, no login
- All scanned documents are stored locally on your device only
- We do not operate servers that process or store your document content
- Cloud backup is optional and goes directly to your own cloud storage account
2. What We Collect
We collect minimal data, limited to what Apple and Google provide automatically:
- Crash reports — anonymous diagnostic data when the app crashes (provided by Apple/Google crash reporting frameworks)
- Anonymous usage analytics — aggregated, non-identifiable data such as which features are most used, provided through Apple App Analytics and Google Play Console
- Device type and OS version — to ensure compatibility and optimize performance
What we DON'T collect
- The content of your scanned documents
- Your name, email address, phone number, or any personal identifier (unless you contact us for support)
- Your location data
- Your contacts or address book
- Your cloud storage credentials (iCloud, Google Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive)
- Photos or images outside of what you explicitly scan within the app
3. Local Storage
All documents you scan, along with folders, tags, notes, and signatures, are stored exclusively on your device in the app's sandboxed storage area. This means:
- No other apps can access your ScanFlow documents
- Your documents are protected by your device's security (passcode, Face ID, Touch ID)
- If you delete the app, all locally stored documents are permanently deleted
4. Cloud Sync & Backup
ScanFlow supports optional cloud backup to the following services:
- iCloud Drive
- Google Drive
- Dropbox
- OneDrive
Important: When you use cloud backup, your documents are transferred directly between your device and your own cloud storage account. ScanFlow does not act as an intermediary — we cannot see, access, or read your cloud-stored files. Your use of these services is governed by their respective privacy policies.
5. Third-Party SDKs
The App may include the following third-party components:
- Apple Frameworks — Vision (OCR), VisionKit (document scanning), Core ML — all processing happens on-device
- StoreKit / Google Play Billing — for in-app purchases, handled entirely by Apple/Google
- Dropbox SDK, Google Sign-In, OneDrive SDK — only activated if you choose to connect those cloud services
No advertising SDKs or third-party trackers are included in ScanFlow.
6. In-App Purchases
ScanFlow offers optional Pro features via in-app purchase. All payment processing is handled by Apple (App Store) or Google (Play Store). We do not collect or store any payment information.
7. Children's Privacy
ScanFlow is not directed to children under the age of 13 (or the applicable age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will take steps to delete it.
8. Your Rights (GDPR & International)
If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or a jurisdiction with similar data protection laws, you have the right to:
- Access — request what personal data we hold about you
- Rectification — request correction of inaccurate data
- Erasure — request deletion of your personal data
- Portability — receive your data in a structured format
- Object — object to processing of your data

9. Data Deletion
How to delete all your data
Since all your documents are stored locally on your device, uninstalling ScanFlow deletes all your data. There is nothing stored on our servers to delete. If you have backed up documents to cloud storage, you can delete those files directly from your cloud storage account.
10. Data Security
We implement appropriate security measures:
- App sandboxing ensures document isolation
- PDF password protection for sensitive documents
- All cloud transfers use encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS)
- On-device processing — OCR, edge detection, and image processing never leave your device
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. We will notify you of significant changes by updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
